How You Can Help Fight Overfishing

Overfishing is one of the biggest threats to our oceans. Fish stocks are being wiped out at an alarming rate, and commercial fishing gear makes up a large part of the pollution found in the water, and on our beaches. Filmmaker Rob Stewart’s website offers some solutions that ordinary citizens can use to help fight overfishing and hopefully preserve our fish stocks for future generations….and if you haven’t seen Sharkwater or Sharkwater Extinction they are “must watch” films!

Takeout Woes...

Takeout is a quick and easy way to grab a delicious lunch, but it can produce a tremendous amount of waste…up to 50% in Metro Vancouver. Here’s a great article from the CBC with some suggestions to help reduce takeout waste. Though I do think the Vancouver Health authorities need to find a way to allow us to bring our own reusable containers to takeout restaurants.
